Beauty and the Beast– Trailer vs. Movie #12

As is typical with all my posts, please be aware there are possible spoilers.

The trailer(s) that I watched for this movie are below:

Beauty and the Beast is not a one for one copy of the original animated classic, but it follows much of the same story.  If you enjoyed the animated film then its very likely that you will enjoy this movie as well.  Emma Watson does a great job as Belle, capturing the essence of the character from the animated movie.

The trailer does give away nearly everything, but honestly this is very close to the original movie that chances are you already know exactly whats going to happen in the movie.  I don’t think the trailer giving away the story is going to ruin anything for anyone.  And if it does, what planet have you been living on?

There are a couple of additional songs and scenes in the movie, but I don’t feel like these added much to the overall story, but felt more like this is going to be a really short film if they aren’t added (the animated film was 84 minutes long).

If your looking for more of a re-imagining of Beauty and the Beast (i.e. John Favreau’s Jungle Book) this isn’t the movie for you.  However I do think that fans would have disappointed if this was the case as the original film was so beloved that any major changes may have received backlash.

One slight disappointed for me personally is during the famous ballroom scene.  This is where the original film shinned.  The big bold moves from the camera through the ball room were all but removed in this version.  The dance didn’t feel as grand or climaxing of the relationship to me.

(10/10 is a perfect rating)

8/10 – Movie Rating:  If you are a Disney fan at all this is right down your alley.  New songs and parts of story didn’t really add much.

3/10 – Trailer Rating:  The trailer gives away nearly everything, but chances are you already knew the whole story anyways.  The trailer does not give away any of the added songs or scenes.

End Credit Scene? – No
