As is typical with all my posts, please be aware there are possible spoilers.
The trailer that I watched for this movie is below:
Charlie Hunnam gives his best movie performance to date in Lost City of Z. Based on the book of the same name the true story of explorer Percy Fawcett has a lot of heart. The movie is slower paced, even in the action sequences, but there is a sense of how dangerous exploration in a unexplored 1920’s Amazon jungle would be.
I did struggle at the beginning of the film not seeing Hunnam as the actor from Son’s of Anarchy, but it shows the strength of his acting in this role as I quickly was pulled in and no longer saw him as the TV actor. I was never able to do that for Robert Pattinson however. While his acting was good, the attempt to hide him behind a beard almost made it harder not to think about the sparkly vampire.
The trailer does a good job in only showing what the viewer needs to see to become interested in the movie. Everyone already knows Hunnam is hunting for the lost city so its not a give away, but the trailer does not give away the struggles that accompany the explorer.
(10/10 is a perfect rating)
8/10 – Movie Rating: A exploration movie that gives
9/10 – Trailer Rating: It’s hard not to give away anything in a trailer for a movie like this, but why everything happens and the sub plots are not given away in the trailer.
End Credit Scene? – No
