As is typical with all my posts, please be aware there are possible spoilers.
The trailer that I watched for this movie is below:
The biggest problem with The Mummy is it’s nothing special. It’s not a bad movie, but its not the thrill ride that the trailer wanted to make you think it was. The movie hits most of the marks you want from a summer popcorn movie, but there is never any sense of consequence or unpredictability.
Universal has this grand plan for its “Dark Universe” including The Bride of Frankenstein, The Invisible Man, The Wolfman, Van Helsing, etc. This movie fills more like the prologue for the next movie rather then the huge kick off point for the universe.
I did enjoy myself, but its nothing that I am going to be raving about. If your a fan of the Brendan Fraser movies then there is probably something here for you to like. There is some very brief attempt at humor as was in its predecessor. If you are on the fence about this one, wait for it to show up on Netflix or Redbox.
