As is typical with all my posts, please be aware there are possible spoilers.
The trailer that I watched for this movie is below:
My Cousin Rachel is a slow burn suspense film, but not in the way you would expect or what the trailer would lead you to believe it is. The suspense is more with the audience then the film itself. There is always this sense something is off, but you don’t know what it is. Are the characters telling you the truth, is there some sinister plot at work, is there something that’s not being shown?
The film is a well done period piece with solid acting. The draw back for some viewers might be the slow pace of the film that never, even at the climax of the film, speeds up.
The trailer gives away all the major plot points, but only adds to the a bit of suspense for the audience. The movie is very much like reading a book, regardless of how fast the action or story is moving you can only read so fast, bit by bit and piece by piece.
