Spiderman: Homecoming – Trailer vs. Movie #45 (-7.3)

As is typical with all my posts, please be aware there are possible spoilers.

The trailer that I watched for this movie is below:

Spider-Man: Homecoming might be the best Spider-Man film ever made.  The movie is filled with lots of good action, comedy and is a fun high school drama as well.  Tom Holland makes his second appearance as Spider-Man and doesn’t disappoint.

There are many critics that are saying Robert Downey Jr’s Ironman has too much influence on this movie, but I would say it’s actually pretty spot on.  While Ironman’s influence is all over the movie, Downey’s screen time is probably less then 15 minutes.

Michael Keaton does a great job with the portrayal of the Vulture.  The reason for him existing is set up pretty well and is tough enough to give Spider-Man real problems.  Setting up something rarely seen in a Spider-Man film, Peter Parker becoming vulnerable.  One issue with comic books recently is the climax of the film, ending usually in a big boss battle, is a let down.  Spider-Man: Homecoming has a pretty satisfying ending.

The trailer does give away the biggest plot point of Spider-Man needs to stop the Vulture, but it still hides a lot of what is going on.  I think there is still a lot to see that is either kept out of the trailer or the trailer actually miss leads you.

Overall Spider-Man is a fun movie and a great addition to the MCU.
